Anxiety

Anxiety gets lumped with stress, nervousness, and worry. However, they are actually quite different. Stress is the feeling, physically or emotionally, of pressure. You may have a test or may be temporarily over-loaded with tasks. Typically, stress last as long as the task inducing it. Nervousness is the shakey or what people call "the jitters" that come and go similar to stress. Worry is different from stress and nervousness as it happens in our thoughts. It includes sustained thoughts of concern, also called ruminating, about a event, usually in the future. Having prolonged stress, nerves, or worry that interferes with a persons work/school and/or relationships may be a symptom of something more, like an anxiety-related disorders. Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is anxiety about most things in a persons life. It doesn't seem to stop. It can cause depression, irritability, exhaustion/fatigue, and sleepless.

OCD

"Classic" Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, or OCD, is often casually mentioned conversation to dismiss a person's excessive attention to detail. We've all seen it on TV shows, like Monk or The Big Bang Theory. The actor is frantically checking a faucet or cleaning something they already cleaned. But for so many, OCD can make one feel like their mind is attacking them or that there is something seriously wrong.  Everyone overdoes it from time-to-time; however, those with OCD will have a combination of the following: intrusive thoughts, compulsions, and habits that interfere with ones life. Do you find yourself spending more than an hour getting something "just right" or battling terrible thoughts that are impacting your relationships? People are  pointing out that what you do is not "normal," or that  checking something one time is enough? Click the button to below to learn more.
